Welcome to the VAST Snowmobiling Trail System
We can hardly wait for mid-December when the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST) system officially opens on December 16th. Comprised of hundreds of miles of trails through Caledonia, Essex, and Orleans counties, travelers from all over the country journey here for our famous, abundant snowfalls and well-groomed trails. The extensive system takes you to breathtaking vistas of Vermont’s spacious, untouched landscape or alongside wildlife in their natural habitat. From high mountaintops to remote farm fields or quaint villages covered in pristine snow, the VAST trails are a truly unique opportunity to get outdoors this winter. Located just over half an hour from Highland Lodge, NEK Adventures offers two-hour snowmobile tours that include a snowmobile and helmet rental as well as an experienced guide. NEK Adventures also offers an 8-hour, self-guided snowmobile rental that covers everything from the snowmobile and map to the trail passes. For more information, visit the NEK Adventures website. To ride the VAST trails, just purchase a pass for your legally registered snowmobile through a local club, or book a guided tour from one of the area’s many snowmobile tour operators such as NEK Adventures. Plan your winter snowmobile adventure in the Northeast Kingdom today with a stay at the Highland Lodge.
