Love, Ski and Culture: A Perfect Combination
During the month celebrating love, Highland Lodge brings together that perfect combination of romance, adventure and new experiences. Featured in Vermont’s state-wide newspaper, Seven Days, the innkeeper, Heidi Lauren Duke, was a singer and opera director based in Brooklyn. She is now partner, CEO and event curator at Highland Lodge, arranging moonlit ski trips, yoga classes in the ski hut, Margarita parties and weekly live music. At Highland Lodge, you can rejuvenate with the one you love and immerse yourselves in gorgeous natural surroundings and diverse cultural encounters.
Cross-country ski the Nordic Trails, learn ice climbing or snowmobile the VAST trail system. When you return exhilarated and refreshed, have drinks in front of the lodge fireplace, enjoy massage in the ski hut, or grab a local brew and some homemade comfort food in the cozy House Bar and Kitchen.
At the nearby Highland Center for the Arts, there’s something to do every day… screen films, view exhibits or take classes. On February 8 at 3:00 pm, the Center features the Middlebury New Filmmakers Fest 2020 with screenings of the drama/comedy, The Return of Richard III on the 9:24 AM Train, and at 5:30 pm, The Dog Doc, an Official Selection of the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. On February 14 at 7:00 pm, enjoy Mal Maiz, Afro-Latino music performed by Costa Rican Brujo Maiz Vargas Sandoval and his orchestra, an East coast dance band with both a traditional and modern flair.
