Climb the Fire Tower at the Summit of Elmore Mountain

Take a scenic half hour drive south west to Elmore State Park this summer. Enjoy the open water of Lake Elmore on a stand up paddleboard or kayak, or take the two hiking trails to a breathtaking summit view of the Vermont’s Green Mountains.

Stand up paddleboards are available every day all summer from Paddle North. You can also take a lesson or class if you’re new to SUPs or schedule a tour of the surrounding area and Waterbury Reservoir. Paddle North also has a unique offering of yoga classes - Believe it or not, yoga and stand up paddleboards are an excellent combination.

At the Beach House, you will be able to rent canoes, kayaks, pedal boats, and a row boat. Other activities include volleyball, horseshoes, swimming, and hiking.

The two hiking trails lead to the summit of Elmore Mountain at an elevation of 2,608 ft. At the summit, a fire tower offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views of the surrounding area. The two trails, Fire Tower Trail and Ridge Trail, are both moderate to difficult rating, and loop with each other either way. The Fire Tower Trail is 1.74 miles and about 1.5 hours long. The Ridge Trail is 2.3 miles and about 2.25 hours long. Both lead to the fire tower at the summit.
